Section 1

Introduction

JinIX Foundation (“we,” “our,” or “the Foundation”) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting health and healing by bridging modern medical science with meditation and wellness practices. We are committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of everyone who interacts with us — including donors, program participants, event attendees, newsletter subscribers, and visitors to our website at jinix.org.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we may share it with, and the choices you have. By visiting our website or participating in our programs, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, please contact us at the address provided at the end of this policy.

Section 2

Information We Collect

We collect personal information only to the extent necessary to carry out our charitable mission and to provide services to our community. The types of information we may collect include:

Information you provide directly.

When you donate, register for an event, apply for a scholarship, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us, you may provide:

  • Name, email address, mailing address, and phone number;
  • Payment information (processed securely through our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers);
  • Health or wellness information you voluntarily share in connection with a program or retreat;
  • Demographic or background information relevant to scholarship applications; and
  • Any correspondence or feedback you send to us.

Information collected automatically.

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect certain technical data, including:

  • IP address, browser type, and device information;
  • Pages visited, time spent, and navigation paths; and
  • Referring URLs and general geographic location (at the city or region level).

This data is collected via standard web analytics tools and cookies, and is used in aggregate form to improve our website and understand how our audience engages with our content.

Section 3

How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect only for legitimate purposes directly related to our mission. Specifically, we use your information to:

  • Process donations and issue tax receipts;
  • Register you for retreats, workshops, symposiums, and other events;
  • Administer scholarship and financial assistance programs;
  • Send newsletters, program updates, and event announcements (only with your consent);
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide support;
  • Evaluate and improve our programs through outcome tracking and participant feedback;
  • Comply with legal obligations, including tax reporting and nonprofit governance requirements; and
  • Maintain the security and integrity of our systems and website.
We will never sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling or any purpose unrelated to our charitable mission.

Section 4

Sensitive Health Information

Because our programs integrate medical science with wellness and healing practices, some participants may voluntarily share health-related information with us — for example, when registering for a retreat or participating in a medical research partnership.

We treat health information with the highest level of care. Specifically:

  • Health information is collected only when necessary for program safety or participant care;
  • It is accessible only to staff or facilitators with a direct need to know;
  • It is never shared with third parties without your explicit written consent, except where required by law; and
  • It is stored securely and deleted when no longer needed.

Participation in any program never requires you to disclose health information beyond what is reasonably necessary. You may always decline to share information that is not required.

Section 5

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers. We work with trusted third-party vendors — such as payment processors, email platforms, and website hosting providers — who help us operate our programs and services. These providers are contractually bound to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us and may not use it for their own purposes.

Academic and medical partners. Where our programs involve research partnerships with academic or medical institutions (such as our collaboration with Mount Sinai), we share only de-identified or aggregate data unless you have given explicit consent to share individually identifiable information.

Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or regulatory authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of the Foundation, our participants, or the public.

Organizational successors. In the event the Foundation merges with or transfers its assets to another nonprofit organization, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections described in this policy.

Section 6

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your browser — to enhance your experience and understand how visitors use our site. We use the following categories of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — necessary for the website to function (e.g., maintaining session state during donations);
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand site traffic and user behavior in aggregate, using tools such as Google Analytics; and
  • Preference cookies — remember your settings and choices across visits.

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of our website. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies for commercial purposes.

Section 7

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy or as required by applicable law. In general:

  • Donation records are retained for at least seven years for tax and audit purposes;
  • Event registration data is retained for up to two years after the event;
  • Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe; and
  • Health-related information is retained only for the duration of a program and a reasonable period thereafter, unless a longer period is required for safety or legal reasons.

When personal information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

Section 8

Your Rights and Choices

We respect your rights over your personal information. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Delete your information (subject to legal retention obligations);
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in any email or contacting us directly; and
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information. As noted above, we do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 11.

Section 9

Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), restricted access controls, and secure payment processing through reputable third-party providers.

While we take data security seriously, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is entirely secure. We encourage you to take precautions when sharing personal information online.

If you believe your personal information has been compromised or misused, please notify us immediately so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Section 10

Children's Privacy

Our website and programs are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately.
